Al Haleef Arts and Crafts Under the aegis of
Al Haleef Welfare Trust, Shorgari Mohalla, Nawab Bazar, Srinagar.
Dear friends,
You are well aware that Al Haleef Welfare Trust is a non-political, non-religious, non-sectarian charitable organisation which has been rendering social services purely on humanitarian grounds and has been active in the field for the past many years now.
Some of the prominent programmes run by the organisation include provision of free medicines to poor and needy patients suffering from chronic ailments. Under the same programme medical equipment like free oxygen cylinders and concentrators are provided to the patients on need basis. Also financial help is extended to people suffering from serious health issues like cancer and kidney failure which also takes a toll on the financial health of the patients and their families.
Apart from this the organisation is running a major simple nikah programme under which the girls enrolled with the organisation and belonging to poor families are provided all the items needed for the marriage. The requirement list is provided by the bride herself and every effort is made to provide the goods of her choice. Also financial support is provided on a case to case basis.
Another major programme being pursued by the organisation is the deposition of the school and college fee of the poor and needy students. Alhamdulillah the organization has cleared the pending dues of many students whose parents could not deposit the school fee due to financial issues post Covid crisis. Help is also provided to students who need help in coaching fees or College fees to pursue higher studies.
Al Haleef Welfare Trust (AHWT) after successfully pursuing the above mentioned programmes has of late launched a major Skill Development Programme under which young boys and girls are trained in different skills like garment designing, crewel work, chain stitching and mobile repairing etc. Scores of beneficiaries have completed these courses and have started earning their livelihood.
During a number of interactions conducted by the Trust, it has been found that most of the craftsmen are living in financial strain because of various reasons. Either they are not being paid a reasonable amount for their work or they are exploited by the middlemen in the trade. To tackle this problem, Al Haleef Arts and Crafts have been floated. The organisation provides work directly to the craftsmen and when completed, the product is sold in the open market. The artisans are paid immediately to boost their morale and maintain their interest in the craft. The products thus produced are also given to unemployed youth for sale so that they too can earn their livelihood. This programme is multi pronged and aimed at.
1. Restoration of the age old crafts of Kashmir
2. To handle the financial issues of artisans
3. Employment to the unemployed youth.
4. Skill development of the unskilled youth.
We seek your support in making this programme a success. You can support this initiative by buying the handmade products of Al Haleef Arts and Crafts and make the lives of hundreds of artisans better. This initiative also supports the education of children of these craftsmen, who otherwise would be affected due to financial constraints.
Join hands with us to make this mission a success story.
